Modernisation of the railway line between Veleslavín and Václav Havel Airport brings space for a new linear park replacing the surface tracks. This park includes a modern railway station in the form of a pavilion connecting the surrounding nature and urban environment.
Harmony
The project to modernise the line to Václav Havel Airport represents an important step in connecting the capital with the whole world. In a wider context, a new linear park of city-wide significance is being created to replace the surface tracks towards the centre. This park will connect important recreational areas such as Divoká Šárka, Prague Castle and Stromovka, and will provide an attractive environment for residents of Prague 6 and visitors.
The railway station is designed as a light, glass pavilion in a green area. Its architectural design impresses with subtle structures and a uniform roof that hovers over the station space and lets in daylight. The connection between interior and exterior brings the experience of travel through a minimalist design and the connection of a landscape linear element.
"Balance between transport infrastructure and nature."
The park is designed as a multifunctional space with an emphasis on sustainable water management. A linear surface polder retains rainwater to serve as irrigation for the proposed vegetation. The proposed public spaces are designed as gathering spaces with the ability to host markets, concerts and other outdoor events.
The whole project is aimed at maximising the potential of the site, connecting the city and nature and creating a sustainable and aesthetically valuable environment for the local community and visitors.
