The modernization of the train station between Veleslavín and the Václav Havel airport brings space for a new linear park replacing the surface tracks. A new modern train station is placed into this park, connecting the city surroundings with local nature.
Harmony
The modernization project of the tracks towards the Václav Havel airport represents an important step towards the interconnection of the capital with the rest of the world. In a wider context, a new linear park with significance for the whole city is being created. It will replace the surface tracks towards the city center, connecting significant recreational spaces such as Divoká Šárka, the Prague castle, or Stromovka, while offering an attractive space for the residents of Prague 6 and other visitors.
The train station is designed as a light, glass pavilion in the heart of greenery. It’s architectural solution will interest viewers with subtle constructions and a uniform roof, which floats above the train station, filtering through the daily sun. The interconnection of the interior and exterior will bring about the best experience of traveling with the use of minimalistic solutions and connection with the landscape’s linear features.
"Balance between transportational infrastructure and the natural world."
The park is designed as a multifunctional space with emphasis on the sustainable management of water. The linear surface polder retains rainwater. Serving for the irrigation for the designed vegetation. The presented public spaces are designed for socialization, with options for the organization of markets, concerts, and other activities suitable for the outdoors.
The entire project is designed for the maximization of the area’s potential, the connection of urbanism and nature, and the creation of a sustainable yet aesthetically valuable space for local communities and visitors.
