The new building of the central operating rooms is based on the Generale MNO and is an essential step for the complex optimization and development of the complex. Together with the operating rooms, the pavilion proposes a centralized follow-up intensive care / ICU and ARO / and complementary / central sterilization, laboratories /. Furthermore, a new inpatient department of orthopedics is located in the building X.
The requirement to place all nine operating rooms on one floor has fundamentally affected the built-up area. Thus, the massive mass had to be reduced visually, but due to the typology it was only with the help of a rational breakdown. The size of the object is mainly perceived from the human horizon. Therefore, the parterre of the object contour is receded to achieve a de facto reduction and relief of the mass in its corners. The overhanging mass of the three floors of the medical disciplines divides the corridors into distinctive tracts densifying dynamically outward. The last two floors are illuminated in the depth of the exterior atrium. The approach to backlighting played a crucial role in the proposal. The aim was to achieve daylight access to the inner corridors and allow the optic contact of the corridor-exterior. Canceling the dark hospital corridor.
The basic structure of the facade of the individual masses is based on the contrast of full / heavy / and glass / light / surface. Light areas are imaginary displays directed towards the surroundings and are framed by a solid frame.
