One of Prague's largest brownfield sites is being transformed into housing and a park

The construction of a new urban district is beginning at Prague’s Žižkov Station, which will transform one of the largest development areas in the metropolis into a lively and open place for living and everyday life. The first stage of the project will bring four apartment buildings with 280 flats, supplemented by space for shops, services and medical facilities. The design emphasises the connection of the urban fabric with high quality public space and natural contact with nature.

Radek Lampa

“The placement of the apartment buildings around the perimeter of the site opens up a generous space for a car-free and noise-free public park that brings nature into the architecture and into the lives of future residents.”

Pascal

“Projects like Nádraží Žižkov are not just about adding new houses. It’s about sensitively integrating a new part of the city into its surroundings – socially, spatially and over time.”
– Pascal Cornips, Benthem Crouwel Architects, Partner and Architect

The overall plan envisages approximately 550 dwellings, with almost half of the area dedicated to public space. A public park with a water feature will become the green centre of the whole district, which will be accessible not only to residents but also to the inhabitants of the surrounding areas of Prague. The project thus creates a new community axis of Žižkov, where urban density is balanced by generous courtyards, quiet places for relaxation and an active parterre. The project is scheduled for completion in 2028.
